There are three main stamping processes: blanking, bending and stretching. Different processes have different requirements for plates. The selection of materials should also be considered according to the approximate shape and processing technology of products。
Blanking requires that the plate should have enough plasticity to ensure that the plate will not crack during blanking. Soft materials have good blanking performance, and parts with smooth cross-section and small inclination can be obtained after blanking; the quality of hard materials after blanking is not good, and the cross-section unevenness is large, especially for thick plates. For brittle materials, tearing occurs easily after blanking, especially when the width is very small。
The sheet to be bent should have sufficient plasticity and low yield limit. The sheet metal with high plasticity is not easy to crack when bending, and the sheet with lower yield limit and lower elastic modulus has small springback deformation after bending, so it is easy to obtain the bending shape with accurate size. The material with larger brittleness must have a larger relative bending radius when bending, otherwise it is easy to crack in the bending process。
